Getting it Done in 2010!

(I wanted to make my title rhyme..but that wasn't happening)

Happy New Year!!
Okay..so I'm a little late...but luckily being on time was not on my list.
I am just super excited and pumped about getting things checked off my list this year. I've already done a handful:
no more twickets,
only drinking on weekends
working out (P90X Baby!)
Donated my wedding dress
and i'm organizing my house as if I'm one of those specialists on the show Hoarders (seriously..i have a label maker).
In addition to our list, I've also made up a smaller list just for 2010...mostly stuff to do around the house, but it's still so fun to check things off. I think that's why I love lists so much....when you get to cross something off you fell so proud and happy. Good job! yah know?
So next up is getting ready for some races with my sister. God help me, I honestly hope she is not a bad weather jinx. I can totally see myself chickening out of the race if its 20 below and hailing out.
I'd also like to cross "shoot a gun" off my list, so Melissa, we'll have to figure that one out :)

I am an enormous weather jinx

and I mean HUGE.
This began while my aunt Janet and I were running the Newport Half Marathon back in October. A nor'easter hit. It was raining and VERY cold. We said "at least it's not really windy." Gale force winds hit us. Next we said "at least it's not sleeting." Yep, down came the sleet. We thought we were looking on the bright side, but in reality we were taunting the powers that be.
After this race, I began looking forward to the next planned half marathon, this time in Disney. Yes, it would take place in January, but the temperature was expected to be in the 60s, so I kept telling myself the race in Disney would be easier b/c the weather would be much milder.
Yeah.
Right.
Not only did the area experience it's coldest day in over 70 years, SNOW was in the forecast for race day. SNOW. IN ORLANDO! We grudginly purchased our ponchos and laid out our winter running gear. The morning of the race we bundled up and drove to the starting line (at 3:30 am). It was pitch dark out, the outside temperature was around 34 but with wind chill was around 23 degrees. We tried to look on the bright side and said "at least it's not raining." Yeah, that's when the hail started. and the rain continued throughout most of the race with only one "dry" spot.
Did I mention this was in Florida?
Long story short the weather was almost exactly as it was for my race in October, minus the wind. The good news in all of this is that I so badly wanted to just be DONE with the race that I beat my prior time by 14 minutes. I was on autopilot the whole time and just wanted to go back to the car, turn on the heated seats, and warm up.
I swear, if the next race I run is in unexpected cold, rainy, weather, I am quitting.
The good news is, I crossed another race off my list :)
