We've been robbed!!
So I was in bed last night watching Teen Mom on MTV..when a commercial came on for a new show. As I watched it I thought...hmm..this sounds familiar. So the premise of the show is 1 question, 4 guys, 100 things. Basically 4 guys made up a list of 100 things they wanted to do, and now MTV is making a show out of it. WTF!! It's called The Buried Life. I'm seriuosly considering writing MTV so that they can do a show on us ;) So..we may need to beef up our list to involve more dangerous things...but shoot..if it involves a show on MTV...we can do it!!

The Absolute Bestest Thing I've Crossed off my List So Far!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Seriously, I am SO excited about this.
For years I've battled with jean designers and their refusal to acknowledge that everyone is not 5' 8" tall. Gap made a feeble attempt to accommodate women of different heights with their "lengths"- Regular, Long, and Ankle. Unfortunately Regular is too long, and Ankle length SEEM ok until you wash the jeans once and they shrink up above your shoe line. Not cool.
So, about 8 months ago I had to replace my "nice" jeans because I had shredded up the dragging bottoms. Kara and I went to Nordstroms and fell in love with the same exact jeans. Alas, they were very long. "Fear Not!" said Nordstroms. "We will hem jeans for free!" Sold. When the seamstress arrived at the dressing room and began pinning my jeans, she asked me if I wanted to keep the original hem. Huh?? That is even an option?? My mom used to hem my jeans but the new hemline never lived up to the nice, scrunched and worn look of the original hem. I had no idea it was even possible to keep the original hem when hemming jeans. The idea was magical. However, keeping the original hem would cost $15 and I am a cheapskate, so opted out of that. Since then the idea of keep the original hem has mystified me. Thus, it made it onto my list of 101 things to do.
This week at work, I googled "How to hem jeans and keep the original hem." This beauty popped up in my results:
http://www.cardiganempire.com/2009/08/how-to-hem-jeans-in-3-easy-steps.html
3 steps- really, that is it. It amazes me how easy it was. I did 2 pairs of jeans in 20 minutes, and Martha Stewart I am NOT. I feel like a success when I can get my sewing machine threaded without drawing any blood. So believe me when I say it's really possible for anyone to do this. AND you really, really can't tell unless you look super duper close. I'm in love.

10 DOWN!
Well I have to say I am pretty impressed with myself, haha. I have crossed 10 items off my list, way more than I expected.
I will be crossing a few more off as the holiday approaches. I am hosting a poker night in January so I will be playing online every night till then to teach myself how to play.
Hope everyone is making progress and having fun while doing it!

Some More Progress
A lot of these are little things, but they were on my list, so they still count. Note: Potential spoilers are below, so if you don't want to know about the following books/movies, skip this section.
Books:
Gone with the Wind is 99% done. I find it a bit frustrating to read, especially after Rhett and Scarlet get married. I want to jump into the book and shake both of them for being stupid. They both love each other but can't give the other person the satisfaction of knowing that, so they instead make each other miserable.
And, because I like to relate everything back to Gossip Girl, their relationship is much like that of Blaire and Chuck. Rhett is a rogue like Chuck, and engages the company of prostitutes, etc, and it was pretty scandelous when Rhett and Scarlet got together. AND Rhett has not yet told Scarlet he loves her (he did once when he was drunk, but Scarlet didn't let herself believe him.) Very much Chuck and Blaire a la Season One. I think when I finish this I'm going to have to read the follow up book Scarlet, to see if she redeems herself and stops acting like a silly, helpless woman, which is the complete antithesis of her character in the first 3/4 of the book. I have more to write on this, but I'll wait until I'm actually done with the book.
Movies (one movie for each letter of the alphabet)
A: Angels and Demons- MUCH better than Davinci Code. I think the fact that the whole movie spans 7 hours helps keep the pace snappy. Davinci Code draaaggged. They changed the ending of Angels and Demons to make it more realistic, which I was happy about (if you've read the book, you know what I'm referring to.)
U: Up- Another great movie from Disney and Pixar. However, I was looking forward to sitting down to watch a lighthearted, fun movie, and I was CRYING within the first 5 minutes. I continued to cry intermittently throughout the rest of the movie. Please, please someone tell me you've seen it too and had the same reaction. Jamie was amazed that I cried so much, but even though it was cute and funny, the whole underlying premise of the movie was just so sad.
Y: Year One- I definitely did NOT cry during this movie :) If you like Michael Cera, you will really like this movie. Picture a classic Michael Cera character- awkward, quiet, unintentionally funny- trying to be a successful caveman. Jack Black is pretty good too. This was a fun, mindless movie that was highly entertaining. Two opposable thumbs up.
Some things from my list that are coming down the pipe:
Going to Wisconson! One of the things on my list is to visit 2 states I've never been to before. Yesterday, my work booked me and three other people to go to Wisconsin for software training. woo hoo! It's only for 3 days, and it's in January, but it will still be exciting.
Disney Half Marathon: I'm supposed to run a half marathon every year. I ran Newport in 2009, and Disney I will be running in January 2010. I'm back up to running 6 miles, and will run 7 this weekend. The trip should be a blast. I also have to run a race every 2 months, which means I need to find a nice little race to run in this month... can't wait to run in the snow :)
How's everyone else doing with their lists?
